Unibet Mobile App Review – The European giants of bookmaking hold their own against the UK competition

The Unibet app can be installed as a native app or via a mobile web-based platform. It offers safe, reliable, and secure sports betting, casino, and poker apps. It is ranked well within the top 100 apps on the app store for sports and has been downloaded over 50,000 times on the Google Play Store. 

Appearance & Design

The app allows you to access the full range of sports markets, casino games, and much more. Everything is laid out logically, in the firm’s trademark green colour scheme.

We found a clean homepage that breaks down the site’s different areas and focuses on the day’s popular events. A top menu bar provides quick access to:

• Upcoming – Events that will be occurring shortly, split by sport.
• Streaming – The schedule of events that have live streaming options available.
• Football – Quick access to the football fixtures
• Racing – Access to the horse racing hub
• Casino – Redirects the user to the Unibet casino mobile site.
• Tennis – Live and upcoming tennis matches and tournaments. 
• Basketball – Betting markets in America and Europe. 
• American football – NFL and NCAAF event centre.
• Darts – Extensive markets across PDC/ Modus darts matches and events. 

Tapping each option takes you directly to that area of the site. Many other sports are available and can be found from the “A-Z Sports” option in the bottom menu bar. A sliding banner at the top of the homepage shows the latest live offers.

Unibet Betting Features

Live Streaming

The Unibet app provides live streaming options across over 40,000 sporting events. These include:

To watch any of the live streams available, you must have money in your account or have placed a bet within the last 24 hours.

Streams are smooth and high-quality when connected to a reliable data source. The viewer can also be made full screen, providing a much bigger picture in landscape orientation.

The option of placing into picture-in-picture mode is present. This allows users to have a viewing window that can be moved around the screen with a finger drag. Users can then navigate around the app or enter other apps while keeping their eyes on the live action.  

In-Play

A dedicated In-Play section on the app makes locating live matches and placing quick bets on them easy. In-Play action is categorised by sport, and once an event has been selected, the In-Play visuals and available markets will open up.

The visual board at the top of the page represents the action that is happening live. For example, the football visual comes in the design of a football pitch and the Tennis visual as a tennis court. animations are used to show where the action is occurring and flash commentary provides a more detailed description of what is unfolding. 

If a live stream is available on an event, this will populate as the default view when entering the in-play markets. This can be changed to show the in-play visual or an infographic displaying up-to-date statistics.

If the live stream is swapped out to show another visual, the audio of the live stream remains active so users can still hear what is going on, as well as benefitting from the alternative information.

There’s a broad range of In-Play markets on offer and Action betting markets allow for quick turnaround bets to be placed. For example, in football, betting on whether or not the next throw-in will happen before a certain time marker, or in tennis, betting on which player will win the next point.    

Quick-Bet

Unibet’s quick bet feature makes it lightning quick to place single bets. Upon making a selection a Quick-Bet box will pop up at the bottom of the screen.

This box will clearly detail the selection made and the odds offered, with a stake amount field next to it. Once a stake is entered the potential returns will be calculated and displayed. The “Place bet” will now become active to press. This makes it possible to place a bet within three taps, once the app has been opened.

If more selections are required, the Quick-Bet slip can be minimised by tapping on the small downwards arrow in the top right of the pop-up window. More selections can now be made The minimised bet slip will now hold all selections and can be opened up at any time to show all bet options relating to the selections made.  

One downside here is that the feature cannot be disabled. Not everybody likes to rush their bets. Some people like to double check all details and take their time before confirming their bet choices. Most bookmakers allow users to enable or disable this feature. However, Unibet does not. 

This actually slows down the process of placing accumulators, so not a great feature for those who only place multiple bets.

Cash Out

As with most online bookmakers these days, a cash out feature is present on the Unibet app. It is a very basic cash out system, consisting of just the option of cashing out the full amount offered or staying in the bet. 

Other bookmakers offer a partial cash out feature also, allowing users to take a percentage of the cash out amount offered and leaving the rest to ride at the reduced stake amount.

Although the Cash Out system is not the most intuitive, it offers fair cash out amounts and makes the cash out facility clearly visible against associated markets.

If cash out is available on a market, or on a multiple bet, it will be clearly labelled as such within the bet slip. If cash out is not available, there will be no cash out icon shown.

As is the case with every bookmaker who offers this feature, Cash out offers are at the discretion of the bookmaker and the user has no right to expect or demand one. Cash outs are not offered on horse racing markets or virtual sports. 

Bet Builder

Unibet has jumped on the Bet Builder Bandwagon and with good reason. This feature has become very popular within the football betting world. It facilitates punters in building their own bet by allowing them to combine different markets together from the same match. 

For example, in a match involving Liverpool and Chelsea, a user may fancy combining the following markets:

1. Liverpool to win
2. Both teams to score
3. Mo Salah to score first
4. Trent Alexander Arnold to get an assist
5. Over 2.5 cards for Chelsea
6. Over 9.5 corners

As each market is selected the combination and odds change accordingly within the bet slip. Up to twelve different markets can be combined together to make a completely unique bet on the Unibet app.

Unibet is very rarely offering the best odds in the marketplace. However, they are never really far behind and as such, find them to be competitively priced overall.
