How to place a bet on a UFC fight
To place a bet online, users first need to register themselves with an online bookmaker. Once registered, funds will needed to be added to the registered betting account using one of the available payment methods. These funds can then be used to place bets.
Users with a funded account can then navigate to the UFC/MMA section of the betting app to browse what events/fights are available to be bet upon. Navigating to the UFC events differs between betting apps. When struggling to locate the UFC events from the homepage, fall back to the A-Z Sports list and locate it from there.
The UFC events and fights can now be browsed through with the odds being displayed next to the bouts for each fighter to win. More markets may be available by tapping on the fight in question. Tapping the odds for a fighter to win will add that selection to the bet slip.
When a selection has been added to the bet slip, a stake can then be attached to it. The stake is the cash amount to be risked on that particular outcome.
Upon adding a stake amount, the expected returns, should the bet win, will be displayed and the place bet button will become active. Tapping the place bet button at this point will place the bet, as long as there are adequate funds in the betting account to cover it.
UFC bet types
There are different types of bets that can be placed on UFC events. Additional to the simple, single bet selection, there are a number of multiple bet types that can be used to combine different UFC fights or events. UFC bets can also be combined with other sporting events, such as football or horse racing. Here are some of the betting types available
- Single
- Double
- Treble
- Accumulator
- Trixie
- Patent
- Yankee
- Lucky 15
- Super Yankee
- Lucky 31
- Heinz
- Lucky 63
- Super Heinz
- Goliath
MMA Betting Apps – Markets
Future UFC events usually have just the “to win” market available. However as the event nears and the popularity in the fight increases, more markets are opened up to bet on.
Users can bet on which round the fight will end in, whether or not the fight will go the distance and even which fight will be labelled fight of the night.
Here are some of the markets to expect to see 24 hours before the event starts:
- To win by KO
- Will the fight go the distance?
- To win by disqualification
- To win by decision
- Total rounds
- To win in a particular round
- Fight of the night
- To win by submission
As well as defined markets, some bookmakers offer users the chance to request their own bets relating to UFC fights.
For example, William Hill offer their #Yourodds feature whereby users can message William Hill on Twitter using #Yourodds to request bets that are not priced up on the app. The Twitter team will then send the request to the William Hill traders to make a decision on:
- Whether there is too much risk attached to the request. If there is, the request will be rejected.
- What odds to offer on the request (should the request be acceptable from a risk perspective).
The William Hill traders, if happy with the risk element will then make the bet available online and on the app, while also relaying a message back to the Twitter team. The Twitter team will then message the user who made the request to inform them whether or not it has been accepted and if so, at what price. The Twitter team will attach a link to the message so that the user can navigate directly to the requested selection.
UFC bonuses and promotions
Most bookmakers have a new customer offer available to take advantage of. Some also have specific UFC price boosts, enhancements and bonuses to add even more value to MMA betting.
However, these types of boosts tend to be on the BIG UFC fights and events. Therefore, it’s worth taking the time to look at multiple bookmakers online to check out what they are offering.
Shopping around is also recommended to make sure you are getting value from the standard odds offerings. One bookmaker is never best price across all fights and markets and there can be small changes in odds that can make a significant difference, especially in large accumulators.
Best Betting Apps For UFC Live streaming
There are no betting apps currently offering live streaming on UFC events. TNT sports own the broadcasting rights in the UK and so that is the only place available (legally) to watch.
UFC Betting Apps FAQs
That depends entirely on personal preference. As can be seen from our list of recommended apps, each betting app has strengths and weaknesses when it comes to betting on UFC events.
For example, if quick navigation and strong odds are important to the user, then William Hill would certainly be worth exploring. However, if someone is looking to place lightning quick UFC bets in play, BetVictor may be more of an appropriate choice.
Our go to app for future events, when looking to bet on something a little more exotic than the outright “to win” market is the bet365 app. They tend to offer out fight outcome and round betting five days in advance of the bout. Other betting apps usually open up fringe markets 24-48 hours prior.
Betway who just missed out on our top 5 list are also well known for offering out numerous markets early on UFC fights.
This depends on the bookmaker in question. However, as a general rule, if the bookmaker does have a cash out feature, it will be available on applicable UFC bets.
even though cash out is available, the feature can be suspended at any time, depending on what is happening live.
